Titanium offers significant advantages in performance and durability, being 15-20% lighter than steel while maintaining equivalent stiffness, providing an optimal balance of weight and strength. Furthermore, Hyperion tubing boasts a 40% greater Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) compared to aluminium, matching the UTS of the highest-performing steel alloys.
Columbus’ advanced cold-drawing technology significantly enhances the mechanical properties of Hyperion tubes, yielding a remarkable +22% increase in Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) compared to non-butted titanium tubes on the market.

The specific strength of Columbus Hyperion Ti Grade 9 butted tubing is an impressive 200 [kNm] / kg, whereas a generic titanium Grade 9 non-butted tube scores only 156 [kNm] / kg, representing a 22% increase with Hyperion.
Additionally, Columbus employs a special proprietary drawing lubricant that ensures the tubes arrive extra clean and free from residual oils, allowing builders to prepare them for welding more efficiently. Made from Grade 9 titanium, the main triangle and rear stays offer optimal performance and workability.
